Welcome to the Illinois State Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization

What is Our Purpose?

We see entrepreneurship as innovation in action.  To engage the ISU community in this notion of entrepreneurship, our purpose is to promote and support the entrepreneurial mindset and skill set of all ISU students through innovative experiential learning opportunities.

Membership is available to all ISU undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni.  As we strive to become a powerful force for entrepreneurship across campus, we particularly encourage students and alumni from outside the State Farm Hall of Business to become active members - we want your ideas!

ISU CEO is a chapter of the National Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization, the premier global entrepreneurship network serving over 500 colleges and universities.  When you join ISU CEO, you become a member of the national organization, and part of a movement to engage the entire ISU community in entrepreneurship!

The Startup Showcase is an annual competition sponsored by The George R. and Martha Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Illinois State University.  It is designed to provoke and reward student startups from area colleges and universities.  This competition will provide students exposure to tools necessary to engage in the following, which will be the basis on which their startup will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of entrepreneurs and investors:

1.)  designing a powerful idea
2.)  identifying key business model hypotheses
3.)  testing and validating these hypotheses with actual customers and stakeholders
4.)  pivoting their business model until they have one validated by customer and stakeholder actions and feedback
5.)  showing traction which measures how well a startup is delivering its business model and how well its target demographic is accepting that business model.

George R. and Martha Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies

The George R. and Martha Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies was established through a planned gift of the late George and Martha Means. The goal of the new center is twofold: to enhance academic and business experiences for students and to serve as a research and consulting resource for local businesses.

Alumni Connections

We have a lot of great alumni with years of experience in entrepreneurship and running their own businesses that would love to pass on their knowledge.  One alum in particular, Mike Manna, is our new Means Center Entrepreneur-in-Residence who will be working with the CEO club throughout the spring semester, passing on his vast knowledge and helping young entrepreneurs with their ideas.  To learn more about Mike, check out our resources page.
